RICK OWENS - NASKA - S/S 2012

"I was thinking of shapes that distorted, inflated the body and negated sex but suggested ceremony and pageantry - like the volumes and swells of a pope's robes or the width of the panniers on a venitian court gown. I reminded myself of my original intent 15 years ago to take couture silhouettes and interpret them in industrial coarse materials tenting cottons, tarps, rough leather and t-shirt jersey to apply a regal silhouette to everyday life. Ascetically heroic or delusionally heroic"

GALATIC MONASTIC  collection -  Cybernation conquered even the most primitive of souls. As monastic as they are, civilisation's wired claws proved invincible. Their ancient prayers turned into cosmic chants. Blessings from the future it may seem, life of contradictions it may lead to.

Inspired by the dark spirit and misty landscapes of his home country, Richard Söderberg's well tailored pieces have a Gothic feel to their dark aesthetic. With asymmetrical cuts and piles of light weight layers, each piece has a raw cut finish to demonstrate the handcrafted element involved in the creation of each collection.

Liberum Arbitrium - S/S 2012

Behind recently established brand Liberum Arbitrium (trans. from Latin “Free Will“) stands Japanese designer Shinsuke Mitsouka (28). The young designer decided to give his label a Latin name already back when he was designing his graduate collection because he was fascinated by the sound and the deep meaning of the dead language. Oftenly called dark and moody, he is drawing the audience in to the world of macabre fashion.
