RICK OWENS - NASKA - S/S 2012

"I was thinking of shapes that distorted, inflated the body and negated sex but suggested ceremony and pageantry - like the volumes and swells of a pope's robes or the width of the panniers on a venitian court gown. I reminded myself of my original intent 15 years ago to take couture silhouettes and interpret them in industrial coarse materials tenting cottons, tarps, rough leather and t-shirt jersey to apply a regal silhouette to everyday life. Ascetically heroic or delusionally heroic"
